FREE TEMPLATE • 1 PAGE • 50+ USES

The positioning doc we use in every brand engagement.

A one-page Google Docs template. The same six sections we walk every client through before recommending strategy. Free. No follow-up sequence.

Positioning Template
WHAT’S INSIDE

Built from 50+ brand strategy engagements.

01

The 6-section structure

Who you serve, the specific pain point, the outcome you create, your unique mechanism, the proof, and the anti-positioning. One page. No fluff.

02

Worked examples from real brands

How we filled it for Hoffman (underfloor heating), Delta Studio (retail), and a B2B SaaS we can’t name yet. You see what “good” looks like, not just blanks.

03

Common mistakes called out

The four patterns that kill positioning docs in practice, and how to spot them before you waste a quarter chasing the wrong narrative.

PREVIEW

What the actual page looks like.

No screenshot tricks. This is the template structure you’ll get.

POSITIONING. ONE-PAGE TEMPLATE
[Your company name]
01: Who you serve
Specific segment + context. Not "B2B companies": "B2B SaaS founders, 5-50 employees, post-PMF, struggling to articulate why customers pick them over [3 named competitors]."
02: The pain point
The thing they Google at 11pm. Phrased in their words, not yours.
03: The outcome
What changes for them in 6 months if they pick you. Concrete. Measurable where possible.
04: The unique mechanism
The how. The thing competitors can’t say (or can say but don’t).
05: The proof
Numbers, case studies, third-party validation. The receipts.
06: Anti-positioning
Who you’re NOT for. The harder this is to write, the more valuable it’ll be.
WHO IT’S FOR

If any of these sound familiar. This template will help.

  • ✓Founders who feel their messaging is “fine but generic”, and suspect that’s costing them deals they don’t realize they’re losing.
  • ✓Marketing leads inheriting a brand they didn’t build, with no clear positioning doc to anchor to.
  • ✓Teams about to rebrand who want to do the strategic work properly before designers touch anything.
  • ✓Anyone briefing an agency who wants to walk in with a sharp brief instead of a vague vibe.
ONE LAST THING

Fill it in with your leadership team in a 90-minute workshop.

Not alone over coffee. The disagreement is where the strategy gets sharp. If you want a facilitator for that workshop: that’s what we do. Otherwise, take the template and run with it.
